Furthermore the dry stone bridge over the river is a natural but also perhaps an imaginary boundary which one must cross to reach the idyllic rural life of the Langstrothdale Valley. It conjures up the romantic notion of packing up urban life and making a living off the land, an image that is far removed from the reality"
