Whenever I look at this, I am filled with sadness. If only Beeching had not been so short-sighted in closing so many rail tracks that ran like veins across this country, killing off communities in the process. How badly that are needed and missed today. It is remarkable to think that the line over Ribblehead Viaduct, once an artery in the network, now hosts only a local service, the Settle and Carlisle Railway. This painting represents a tribute to all that man has built with his hand, working in harmony with nature.
An eminent American lawyer, Louis Nizer, once wrote, “A man who works with his hands is a labourer; a man who works with is hands and his brain is a craftsman, but a man who works with his hands and his brain and his heart is an artist.”
Mounted only is double mounted in off white.
Framed is double mounted in off white with contemporary distressed bronze/dark brown wood frame with gold inner edge
