I was drawn to this scene in Deepdale, Upper Wharfedale, on a fine clear day. The air was fresh, cool and invigorating and new born lambs were bleating all around. Spring had at last arrived. When I came across this homestead, with the washing billowing in the wind, I knew life could not get much better. There was nothing for it but to put brush to paper and to capture the view. When ever I look at this painting, I can smell the freshness of that day. The pure unashamed naivety of this scene makes me hope that future generations will be able to have and appreciate similar ones. Let us pray that in this new century, some things will never change.
