Landmarks of our lives captures Meltham in the snow for Day 7 of our 12 days of a Yorkshire Christmas

On the seventh day of Christmas, my true love gave to me: ‘Landmarks of Our Lives’ – looking down from West Nab toward the heart of Meltham.

In this winter scene, the three iconic landmarks of the Holme Valley – Castle Hill, Emley Moor Mast, and Holme Moss Mast – rise against the skyline like silent guardians. Castle Hill, built in celebration of Queen Victoria’s Jubilee, stands as a reminder of Yorkshire’s rich history, while the masts of Emley and Holme Moss connect us to the present day.

Together, they form a triangle of familiarity for anyone who calls this valley home. There’s something deeply comforting about seeing these landmarks come into view – they signal that you’re back in the familiar embrace of Yorkshire.
