We bring a personal memory to day nine of our 12days of of a Yorkshire Christmas

On the ninth day of Christmas, my true love gave to me: a journey ‘Down to Hinchliffe Mill.’

In the cold clarity of a winter’s day, the landscape reminds us of life’s crossroads and choices. Standing here, I’m drawn to the distant climb of Holme Moss, that sense of moving forward despite winter’s chill. And yet, my heart is pulled back to simpler days – a memory of taking my young children sledging down Holme Moss’s snowy slopes, laughter echoing in the air… with a welly lost along the way and a wet footed walk to retrieve it.

Sometimes the path forward is steady; other times, it’s a bumpy slide through life’s little surprises. What unexpected winter moments do you treasure?
